Part 2 of 4 is more about film than music, but I found it worth posting anyway.

Music imprints itself on the brain deeper than any other human experience. It speaks to us in a different language and arouses every emotion. It connects us all, it is a force that ignites our souls.
Alive Inside is a documentary film that follows Dan Cohen’s Music & Memory project, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing personalized music into the lives of the elderly and infirm, thereby vastly improving their day-to-day existence.
Telling a story of hope and beauty, the film follows Dan as he discovers the power music has to “awaken” minds most others consider dormant and deteriorating. The film features Dr. Oliver Sacks, Dr. Bill Thomas and the amazing men and women dedicated to patient care.

The Goodbye Tour

How many of your favorite singers or bands passed on or broke up without giving you closure? How many chances have you had to see an artist knowing with certainty it would be for the last time?
I know performers can be pretty Brett Favre about these things. Ozzie did a farewell tour years ago, then returned almost immediately with the “Retirement Sucks Tour”.
But of all your favorite artists from the past, who would you most like to see again if they offered “The Goodbye Tour”?
I know I’ll be there May 20th, and will take along my father too, in spirit–to thank Glen Campbell for a lifetime of great songs and performances. Grateful for the chance to say goodbye.
…and Now

When you think rock ‘n’ roll, you think electric guitars. And when you think electric guitars, you think about Fenders and all of those Telecasters and Stratocasters played by legendary musicians, from Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, and Keith Richards, to Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company first started operations in Fullerton, California in 1946, but didn’t start making Teles (originally called Broadcasters) until 1950, and Stratocasters until 1954. And they’re still making them today.
The first video above, “A Strat is Born,” takes you through the making of a contemporary Stratocaster in four timelapse minutes. The action all takes place at Fender’s factory in Corona, California. The second video below offers a vintage 1959 tour of the Fender factory in Fullerton, CA. Put the two videos side by side, and you can see how much times have … or haven’t … changed.
